Purpose: To preserve the ancestral heritage, culture, history,
and genealogical records of Gottschee.
Focus: The former Gottschee (Kocevska) district of Slovenia,
formerly Krain, Austria until 1919, part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Gottschee existed from 1330 to 1941.
Annual Meetings:The 2006 annual meeting will be June 24, at
the Quorum Hotel-Tampa, 700 North Westshore Blvd., Tampa FL 33609. See
the GHGA website for details and registration information.
Membership Information: If you are of Gottscheer descent we
may be able to help you with the discovery of your ancestral roots. Our
association maintains lists of surnames and villages of origin. Membership
will also allow you to tap the vast knowledge of our many members.

As a member of GHGA, you will receive The Gottschee Tree quarterly
journal, The Gottscheer Connection newsletter, and the yearly membership
roster, that contains members' connections to Gottschee.
The fiscal year is July 1 through June 30. Yearly dues are $22.00 for
an individual, $27.00 for a family (includes parents and children under
21 living at home). Lifetime dues are $300.00 paid once.
Current Projects:
- Compiling the
marriage records of each parish of the former Gottschee.
- Collecting and
transcribing oral histories of Gottscheers in the United States and
Canada.
