Greek Orthodox)
I am looking for my family roots. My great grandfather was born
at Kefalonia, village Dolinata (probably the current Dilinata),
around 1880. His name is Antipa SPIRIDON (probably the family
name is ANTIPAS, not ANTIPA). The only information I have is
from an immigration document written in Romanian. He left
Kefalonia and immigrated to Romania around 1900. My family is
spread in France, Romania, Canada and USA, but I have no clue
about my Greek relatives. I will appreciate any information
regarding relatives having the same family name Antipa or Antipas
and living at Kefalonia or other parts of Greece. My great
grandfather was Greek Orthodox. In advance thank you.

I am looking for the PIPIKIOU family from Tifles, Greece. We are
also told that they had connections at Tripoli. I am most
interested in information regarding my grandfather, Stavros
PIPIKIOU, born 15 August 1889 ? (This date is doubtful when
compared to other records we do have). He was a painter and
trained to paint beautiful murals. Stavros is believed to have
traveled abroad for several years before immigrating to and
entering the USA. He traveled with an uncle (we do not know the
uncles name) to Africa, Egypt etc. We know he was in the USA
before 1919, because he married a Sybil BASSETT, in the state of
Missouri 12 November 1919. His name was changed in the USA to
Steve K. CARSEL. He was married on 12 November 1919 in the state
of Missouri, USA so he had to be here prior to that. To our
knowledge he did not finish the naturalization process.
His brother, Dimitrios PIPIKIOU, immigrated to the USA on the
ship "Pannonia" arriving 4 March 1914. His wife, Yiannoula, and
their child, Georgia, immigrated on the ship "Megali Hellas",
arriving America 20 January 1921. They listed their homeland in
Greece to be Tripolis and their nearest relative in Greece to be
Georgitsa PIPIKIOU at Tripoli. This information came from ship
manifest information at Ellis Island, New York. I believe
Dimitrios listed his occupation in upholstery in Greece. Upon
gaining American citizenship, their names became Jim (James)
PIPER and family. They lived in the Kansas City, Missouri area.
I know this is rather sparse information so I don't expect any
miracles. I just need to know if there are any websites that
could help me unravel this mystery. I do not speak Greek, so I
have a major roadblock with communicating with Greek websites.
If you could point me in a direction I would be most
appreciative. I can find no records in our Missouri census or
genealogy databases, even though I know exactly what streets he
lived on at certain times. The only other name from their
homeland that we have is that of one of their parents, a
Georgitsa PIPIKIOUS. We have heard that the Pipikiou family was
somewhat wealthy, dealing in some type of furs and owning two
homes. One of the homes was inland and another overlooked the
sea. Both sons immigrated to the USA prior to 1920 because their
parents wanted them to avoid a pending war. As you can tell,
most of our facts are few and far between. We desperately wish
to find any info pertaining to our heritage. Thank you for your
help.

I am trying to establish details of birth and family of one
Plotino RHODAKANATI, who was born about 1850 and became an
anarchist. He fled to Spain and then Mexico where he continued
as an anarchist. He was also a Roman Catholic at one time.
Any help would be appreciated. I do not know which region he
came from.

I am looking for information on my grandmother and grandfather
from Chios, Greece. Katherine (Catherine or Caterina) VLATTAS
XENAKIS was born 12 March 1913 and died 4 June 2000. Her mother
was Angelika ALEMIS and her father was Emanuel VLATTAS. They
immigrated to America in 1931. She had a wealthy family in
Greece and left when the Turks were taking over Chios, so I am
told. Dimitrios (James) Xenakis was born 14 September 1900
(unofficial) from Chios and died 1982 in the USA. His mother
was Kalliope MENTONIS and his father was John XENAKIS. He
immigrated to the U.S.A. 1924 ? He worked aboard the ship
"Edison", bringing immigrants back & forth to the USA from
Greece. They had 2 sons: John Xeankis (my father) and Stanley
Xenakis (my uncle).

I am trying to trace the whereabouts of my father and his family.
His name is Peter Koufakis and he was born 2 March 1947 at
Efpalion Doridos or Nafpaktos, Greece. I know he remarried a
woman by the name of Mario and had 2 more children.

I am trying to locate any information about the COTOMATIS family
and Bellaki now spelled BELLIOT. Both were related to each other
possibly cousins. I only know specifics on Antonios Sarantos
Cotomatis. He was born on 20 January 28 1886. His mother was
born at Hydra, Greece so I assume that was also his birth place.
Then I found him in the World War I civilian draft records
registered at Penellas, Florida. I also have letters he wrote
when he lived at Tarpon, Florida dated in 1908-1911. The Belliki
family eventually traveled to South America and settled there.
It was told that the Belliki name was not the original name of
the family. It might have been Bellaki.1
GERONTAKOS, Marge
eMail address: Marge589@aol.com
I am looking for any information regarding Theodore GERONTAKOS,
of the Greek Orthodox religion, from Sparta, Greece. He
immigrated to the U.S.A. around 1911. He lived in Massachusetts and then New York, and died in 1948.

I am searching for my father whose name is George Chidrigas. I
do not have the original Greek spelling. I know that he was born
12 March 1931 and he was born in Greece. I do not know when he
immigrated to America, but I do know that he lived in Los
Angeles, California. He was a restaurant owner there. He was a
Greek Orthodox. I believe he has one brother and one sister.
If anyone has any information that might be helpful, I would
greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I am looking for any information on my Greek grandfather. His
given name was Georgious Constantine KRENERITES, but he changed
his name to George KRENOS (we don't know when this occurred.) He
was born 23 April 1892 (or 1893) at either Halcules or Chalkis
Evas, Greece. He immigrated from the port of Piraeus, Greece
(the SS is unknown) and arrived at Ellis Island on 30 July 1909
at the age of 26. In 1980 my father wrote the U. S. Dept. of
Naturalization and Immigration requesting a copy of the ship
manifest hoping that perhaps his parents names may be on it, but
they confirmed a ship from Piraeus arrived on that day but they
were unable to locate the manifest. He had an uncle that lived
in Pennsylvania that was his sponsor. He had a brother named
Angelo and two sisters born after he left the old country. They
were Maria (Mary) and Ellen. Sometimes my grandma (now deceased)
used the name Angelia in place of Ellen, so we are not sure of
the correct name. He signed for his Petition for Naturalization
on 5 October 1940 and received his Naturalization papers
(#4893432) on 20 January 1941 and on that day became a U.S.
citizen. Could you possibly help me or steer me in the right
direction? Thanks so much for your time.
LEIMONIS, Melissa
eMail address: mellovesryan@hotmail.com
I was born at Toronto, Ontario, Canada. My dad was born in
Greece. On August 18, 1988, he past away in Greece. My family
told me he got into a motorcycle accident with another woman. My
mom doesn't talk to his side of the family. They all blamed her
for his death. I went for a visit to see them not to long ago.
(I was born 29 October 1983 - when he died I was 4 and that was
the last year I seen them) so it was a really big surprise. My
uncle was there, he told me that sooner or later I'll find out
the truth about my father. I'm 18 years old, I've got an older
brother who is 21 (same father) I think that we are old enough to
know what really happened, because if I wait for them I'll be 50.
If you have any hints or ideas as to how I can go about finding
the truth it would really help. e.g. registries, or web sites
containing this information, or anything that you may think that
might help. My dad's name is Petros Leimonis, or he goes by the
name Peter Leimonis. Thank you for your time.

I would love to obtain any information on the ancestors and
relatives of John Nick DAMIGOS. My father was born 12 May, 1905
on the island of Psara, Greece, near Chios. My father was Greek
Orthodox. My father immigrated to the US around 1931 in search
of his brother, Tony DAMIGOS. Any information would be greatly
appreciated and I would be happy to share any information that I
now have.

This is the History about my family in Greece and my
great-grandfather, Konstantinos NIMBRIOTIS / IMBRIOTIS. He was
born at Volos around 1876, was (Greek) Orthodox, and his father
was Panagiotis Imbriotis or Nimbriotis. His mother was Urania
BROUSGIANNI / MpROUSGIANNI, and this mother had a brother who was
the Priest (BROUSGIANNIS) at Volos. My great-grandfather had a
brother and sister. He grew up with them (mother and priest)
because the father (Panagiotis) died when they were children. He
emigrated from Greece between 1910-1912 to South America. The
sister of him traveled to Panama and married in this country.
She had 2 children, one of them, Alexandra, married a Greek man
in Panama. My great-grandfather then went to Ecuador. He knew
my great-grandmother Sofia, married her and had eight children:
Urania, Olga Aglaia, Elena, Olga Maria, Artemis Kaliopi, Georgios
Konstantinos, Androniki and Epaminondas Nimbriotis. He died 17
April 1936 at Guayaquil, Ecuador. I am searching for information
on any of my great grandfather's family. Any help would be appreciated

I am seeking to re-obtain for my family our Greek citizenship and
urgently need any information about my grandfather, Constantine
Y. PAPADOPOULOS, who was born in 1870 at Hermopolis in Syros (a
little island facing Athens and known for her loukoumi). He
left his hometown and worked in ships. He met my grandmother
AFIFEDIRANI from Lebanon during the World War I and they got
married. He has a brother Yanni, whose sons and daughter has the Hellenic nationality, but the authorities don't believe us and
they don't recognize all the papers and documents that we've been
able to relocate (all that we had was burned down in the Lebanese
civil war and we can't get any else) so please if anyone has any
information e-mail me. Its very urgent - the Greek embassy in
Lebanon doesn't want to help us even if the family PAPADOPOULOS
cant exist and has no other trace than in Greece. Thank you in
advance.

This really is a "Needle-in-a-haystack" request. Nevertheless someone out there might just have an answer. I seek information
on Greek born ARISTITIS RINAKACIS. (Note: The spelling of the
surname could be RINACACIS, RINACAKIS or RINAKAKIS.) He is
believed to have been born in Greece (Place of birth not known)
between 1932 and 1937 and to have spent some time in Germany (the
Nuremberg area) late 1960's / early 1970's. Any information
would be much appreciated.. Mbr<

PERDIKIS. What I know is his father came to the USA on the ship
"Argentina", which left from the Port Patras, Akhaia,
Peloponnessos, Greece and arrived at port of New York on 10
April 1914. His information is as follows: Panagiotis PERDIKIS,
age 17, male, single, laborer, reads and writes, nationality and
race is Greek, resided in CONTEVIONICA, Greece. His father's
name was Efstratious PERDIKIS. His fellow passengers were

I am looking for information on my family. My great grandfather
was Angelis POULOPOULOS and my great grandmother was Angeliki
STAVROPOULOS. They were both from Karytena, Arcadia, Greece. My
papouli immigrated to America in 1901, he went to Lowell, Massachusetts to work in the mills. In 1904 he went to
Haverhill, Massachusetts to meet other family members. In 1906
he went to Gloucester, Massachusetts, which is where my family
still lives today. The name Poulopoulos was changed to POLISSON.
Papouli went back to Greece in 1906 to get my yia-yia and their
son Peter to bring them to Gloucester. Along with Peter they had
the following children: Spiros (Paul), Helene, Catherine,
Harriette, and my grandfather George. I know that both my Papouli
and Yia-Yia had brothers and sisters, so far this is all I have:
George POULOPOULOS stayed in Greece, had at least two children
who came to Gloucester, James POULOPOULOS and Dimitra
POULOPOULOS. Yia-Yia had a brother, Charles STAVROPOULOS, who
settled at West Roxbury Massachuesetts and had a donut business.
He married a Panoria KARABELAS. Also their was a sister,
Kalliope STAVROPOULOS, who married an Antonio NICKAS in
Gloucester, she died in 1918 from the flu. There may have been a
brother, John STAVROPOULOS. Any information would be greatly
appreciated.

I am researching my Greek roots. My parents are deceased so I
don't have anyone to ask for further information. Recently, I
have found my grandfather listed on the Ellis Island Website.
His name was listed as Panayotis AGRIOSTATHIS. I have never
found anything before, because the spelling is slightly different
(is) instead of (es). He emigrated in 1907 from Kandilla, Greece
in the Peloponnese (near Tripoli in an area known as the
Arcadia) to America. He was 18 years old. He lived at Chicago.
He was married approximately 6-8 times and had many children,
including my father whose name was Demetrios Agriostathes. I
have also found my grandfather's brothers, Georges, Chalambras,
and Demetrios Agriostathis listed, on other ships to America and
later dates. Additionally, there is a listing for a Jean
Agriostathis. Perhaps a brother or a cousin? I know I had an
uncle Harry, who moved back to Greece while I was a child. He
should still have descendants there. I am interested in any
information about the village of Kandila, anyone from there, or
who also had relatives from there, please contact me.
