What is FEEFHS?

FEEFHS was founded by a few Americans and Canadians representing a handful of societies. Australian, English, German, Lithuanian, New Zealand, Polish, Russian and Swiss organizations have joined since.

FEEFHS is a hybrid Federation, because both organizations and individuals are able to join as members. More societies and individuals are joining periodically, and are welcomed to join.

FEEFHS Objective: FEEFHS (pronounced "Fiefs") was created to serve all ethnic groups, religious groups and genealogists with East European ancestors.


FEEFHS Organization: Charle M. Hall conceived FEEFHS. He assembled leading American and Canadian genealogists with East European expertise, East European linguists and other specialists to help assist in achieving FEEFHS's goals.

FEFHS Executive Council: An executive council governs FEEFHS. It is composed of the four officers plus the secretary, treasurer, the past president and the appointed Journal editor, online newsletter editor, aand webmaster. The consitution requires that at least one officer is a Canadian and at leat one officer is an American.
This executive council provides ongoing bi-national leadership and coordination. In the past, periodic meetings occured in Salt Lake City. Executive council meetings can also occur at regional conferences and international conferences. They are supplimented by eMail communications.

FEEFHS Board of Directors: A distinguished international Board of Directors helps guide the efforts of FEEFHS. A constitution and bylaws were ratified by the founding societies in 1993 and revised in 2002.

FEEFHS Non-Profit Corporate Status: FEEFHS is incorporated as a Utah non-profit educational corporation with a bi-national (America and Canada) executive council operating it. A submission for U.S. Federal non-profit status [under IRS section 501 (c) 3] is expected in the future.
