BARON, Pat
email address: drbaron@gte.net
I am researching the family name of Baron. August Carl BARON and
Louise KRETSCHMAR Baron married
approximately August 1840. I have found baptismal records for 3
of the 6 children born in Muensterberg,
Schlesien. On the 1st and earliest record it states 9 living
female children. As Ionly knew of 2 females born
earlier this leaves me 7 I knew nothing of. The children I know
of are: Caroline Baron born 16 February 1837;
August Carl Baron born 5 April 1848; Frances Baron born June
1838; Louis Theodor Baron born 24 March
1850; Auguste Emma Baron born 31 May 1846; and Theodor Oscar
Oswald Baron born 13 August 1852. They
came to America in 1854. I would be most thankful for any help.
Thank you.

I am interested in obtaining any copy of church or civil records
on my mother, born Hanna Else HOFFMANN
on 26 August 1925 at Marklissa am Queis in Silesia. Her parents
were Gustav and Klara HOFFMANN. The
Polish name of the town is now Lesna. She has no copies of any
records earlier than her marriage certificate
from June 10, 1944, on which date she married Reinhold BEHRENDT
in Marklissa. My mother and her
parents were members of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
CONDE, Ralph

I am looking for information on my great great grandfather and
his family before he came the the US in 1852.
Indications are that he came from the area of Breslaw. Also,
information on a son born at Olbersdorf, and a
grandson born at Frankenstein. The family members are: Florian
RASCH I (born 1791); first marriage to
Carolina SCHINDLER; 2nd wife: Barbara GUTKORN (1894-1843). The
children were: Florian RASCH II
(born 1819, Overdorf); he married Caroline NICKEL (born 1827);
Paul Joseph RASCH (born 1850 at
Frankenstein); Joseph RASCH (born 1821); Franz RASCH (born 1823);
Robert RASCH (born 1832); Frances
RASCH (born 1833); August RASCH (born 1836 at Olbersdorf); Adolph
RASCH (born 1837); Alois RASCH
(born 1840); and Julius RASCH (born 1842 at Olbersdorf). Any
help will be appreciated.
CRESPO, Elenore
eMail address; EJCsRAC@webtv.net
I am looking for any information on my grandparents. My
greatmother was HELENE RIEGER, born 8 July
1898 at Muensterberg (now Ziebice, Poland), died 5 August 1956 at
Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany; married
JOHANN KMITTA, circa 1918 at or near Ujest, Kreis Gross Strelitz,
Silesia. His dates of birth, death and
parentage are unknown. Her parents were MARIA BUCHAL, born 4
August 1867, died 6 Februray 1943 at
Muensterberg; married FRANZ RIEGER, born 23 November 1867, died
28 July 1911 at Muensterberg. Any
information on any of these names would be appreciated.
DOBSCH, Tommy Frederick
eMail address: DXSJ95A@prodigy.com
I am trying to find out about the ancestry of my Grandfather
August Joseph DOBSCH, born 12 February 1864
at Neumarkt Prussia? His father's name was Joseph DOBSCH, born
23 October 1838 at an unknown location.
I have been told that his wife's name was Annie SELZER?
ECKERT, Reinhard

eMail address: ReinhardAr@aol.com
Thanks for posting my submission of August/September 1997. The
mystery around the family ECKERT from
Schloss Ellguth / Ligotha Zamecka is now clear. I had found six
sisters and brothers of my grandfather and
their children. Only one daughter of my grandaunt Marie is
missing. This is my new submission: Ursula
ECKERT born circa 1921 at Schloss Ellguth-Kreuzburg in
Oberschlesien (Ligotha Zamecka-Kluzcbork in Upper
Silesia now Poland). Her mother was Marie Eckert, not married,
her grandparents were Gottlieb ECKERT,
died 1929 and Beate DEUS, died 1941. Her mother had six sisters
and brothers: Fritz, Paul, Marta, Richard,
Gottfried and Hermann. Her mother worked as a nurse at
Magdeburg, died 1978-1979. Ursula lived until
1945 at Schloss Ellguth, in a great red house, and emigrated to
the USA, circa 1945. She is still living there.
Is there any chance to find her? Any help would be appreciated.

FOEGE, Mary HEMPE
eMail address: mwfoege@awebstation.net
(Evangelical Lutheran)
I am looking for genealogy information on my great-great
grandparents, Friedrich HEMPE and his wife,
Elizabeth MILDE. They lived at Gallhauser, Schlesien, Preussen
when their son, Heinrich Herman HEMPE
was born 23 February 1841. They were Evangelical Lutheran. I
also have the city Pol(n)isch Hammer,
Schlesian mentioned in some records. One Carl August HEMPE was
born 9 August 1849, and a Johann
Gottlieb HEMPE born 8 January 1851 in that city. Their parents
are listed in church confirmation records in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin as Johan Friedrich HEMPE and Helena
STOLPER.
Webmaster's Note: According to Reference #5 below, during
1785-1849 there were 17 females named
MILDE married at various Silesia locations and 7 males named
Milde were married at Breslau (1799), Glogau
(1842), Klein Dombrowka (1819) Neumarkt (1810) Sausenberg (1828)
and Schmeideberg (1829). During that
same period there were no HEMPE marriages but there were some
marriages of the HEMPEL surname as early
as 1818 . Have you considered looking for the Hempel surname in
those records? It is a rare surname that
does not have alternative spellings.
HAMERLY, Michael J. (Mike)
238 Harding Court, Louisville, Colorado 80027- , USA
eMail address: michael_hamerly@stortek.com
I looking for information for these surnames: HAMERLA, PAPKALA,
GORGLIN, WIRZKA and WILKE.
Joseph Hamerla married Marianna PAPKALLA in 1835 at
Schriebersdorf, Silesia. The grandson of Joseph
Hamerla, also named Joseph, emigrated to Wausau, Wisconsin, on
the "USS California" in 1884 with his
bride-to-be, Frances WILKE. Schriebersdorf is located 28 miles
south of Oppeln, 7 miles north of Oberglogau
in Neustadt Precinct. The Polish town name is Pisarzowice, in
the powiat (Polish county) of Prudnik. A
notation in the Silesian Geneological Atlas says "Catholic
Christening Book, Death and Burial Book,
1772-1937". My questions are:
1. Does anyone else have information about these surnames?
2. How do I view the Catholic documents, referred to by the
Silesian Geneological Atlas?
3. In some records, my cousin wrote "LDS Film 957133" What is
this and how do I view it?
4. How can I make contact with present day occupants of
Pisarzowice?
5. How can I search phone directories of towns in this region for
references to the above names?
HANISCH, Hugo
eMail address; h_hanisch@hotmail.com
(Lutheran, Roman Catholic)
I am looking for my roots in Silesia. My grandfather Otto HANISCH
came to South America from Patschkau,
Upper Silesia. He was born in 1888 in Komorze (Kommern?) near
Zerkow in Posen because of his father's
appointment in a sugar factory, from Hedwig LUDWIG, born as far
as I know in Mittelwalde, Glatz. Hugo
HANISCH was born at Franckenstein in Schlesien, son of Emil
Viktor Von HANISCH, commander at Glatz
garnison and Dominika KURTZ born at Trebnitz. I will find out
dates and complete names but I will
appreciate any clue. In the family history it is stated that our
origins are Austrian settled in Praha and the
Bohemian Silesia from where they fled because of their Lutheran
religion after the Prague's defenestration
against the Catholic Habsburg. The last generations had been
Roman Catholics.
HASTEROK, Maria

(Roman Catholic)
I am looking for any information about the HASTEROK family. My
grandfather was Johannes HASTEROK,
born 24 November 1890 at Kadlub (Kreis Gross Strelitz, Opole,
Upper Silesia); died in 1975 in Schramberg,
Black Forrest. He was married to Emilie ZOK, born 1899; her
mother was Marie ZOK. The brothers and
sisters of my grandfather: Franz (born 1892), Anna (born 1895),
Paul (born 1997), Albine, Hedwig, Elsa (born
1910), Emilie (born 1913). Grandfathers parents were Franz
HASTEROK, born 16 December 1867 at Hechlau
(Chechlo); married Johanna KAPITZA, born 22 November 1867 at
Karlstal (Gross Strelitz); died March 29th
1917 at Gatsch. Franz sisters were Marianne, Josefa and Johanna.
Johanna's sisters and brothers were
Franziska, Katharina, Anton and Franz. The parents of Franz
Hasterok were Johannes HASTEROK from
Kablub and PANELITSCHEK. The parents of Johanna Kapitza were
Andreas Kapitza, born 1845, Kadlub and
Ludmilla Kapitza MANCZYK / MEINCZYK born 1848 at Kablub, married
3 October 1865 in the Roman
Catholic church St. Michael at Angerbach (Gr. Strelitz). I am
looking for relatives and for information
s of my forefathers, when and how the HASTEROK family came from
Sweden to Silesia. Thank you for your
help! In case of being able to help somebody else on research, I
offer my information for free.

Fredrick Wilhelm MARTIN was born 30 November 1844 at
Giesmannsdorf Silesia, Germany. He married
Paulina SABIMALSKY 30 November 1869 (she was born 1842). He
served in the war of 1866 and the
Franco-Prussion war of 1870-71. Confirmed Lutheran. They had 3
children: 1. Emma Martin born 1870; 2.
Emil Martin born 1872; and 3. Edith Martin born 1874. This
entire family departed Germany in either 1881 or
1883. They first settled in Ottawa County Ohio, then to
Briceton, Ohio 2 years later. Any help concerning
German roots will be appreciated.

I would like to learn the ancestry of John and Bertha BAUMERT.
They were living in Silesia Prussia on 1
October 1836 when their daughter Augusta was born. Augusta was
married to John ZACHOW in Appleton,
Outagame County, Wisconsin 9 October 1858. She gave her name at
that time as Augusta BUAMERT. Her
parents were listed as John Baumert and Bertha. She was 22 years
old at that time. Augusta and John Lived
outside Appleton in a town called Greenville, Wisconson. They
had eleven children. The birth records of the
children gives their mothers name as Augusta FISCHER. I have
tried to locate them all. Those that I have
located have never heard of these ancestors and are really not
interested. John died on 5 September 1891 in
Greenville. Good friends, Fredrick FISCHER and Christopher
LEMPKE signed the estate papers as wittnesses.
Augusta died 2 July 1905 at Appleton Wisconsin. Her obituary
says that she had been resident of Outagamie
County Wisconsin for 55 years at her death. This would mean that
she came there at the age of 14 years, in
about the year of 1850. I can not locate her parents anywhere in
Wisconsin from 1850 on. I now suspect that
she came with someone else but I don't know who that could be.
The death record of my grandfather Henry
ZACHOW, game his mothers name as Augusta LEMPKE. She was very
close to the Christopher and Anna
LEMPKE family who were from Mecklenburg, Germany as well Fredrick
and Amelia FISCHER who were
from Prussia. They also lived on neighboring farms at Greenville
Wisconsin. I have
a copy of the citizenship papers of Fredrick FISCHER. It gives
his place of birth as Prussia only, no name of a
town. It says that he came over in the month of July in the year
of 1854. This is four years after
Augusta came over. I have yet to locate this record. It is very
possible that whoever game the information for
the obituary was wrong on the years Augusta had lived in Outagame
County. I have been having trouble
getting the obituaries of the FISCHER and LEMPKE people. I would
like to learn what towns they were from
in Prussia, and what their connection is to Augusta. Could it be
that the wives of these men are Augusta's
sisters? What ever happened to John and Bertha Baumert? I
would love to hear of a location in Prussia that
the name of Baumert may be found, and of anyone else who is
researching this name.
Webmaster's Note: Since your ancestral daughter was born in
Silesia in 1858 and there were 14
Baumert men married in Silesia between 1796 and 1845, I think
this is where your submission should be.
There were also 15 Baumert women married between 1785 and 1849 in
Silesia. I suggest you contact the IGS
(Immigrant Genealogy Society) and shend a few dollars to have
then do a lookup of these female names and
advise you of the towns thery were married in. That will be
where the Baumert families were living and permit
you to start searching specific churchbook microfilms.

I am looking for help locating the ancestors of Rosalia FABISCH /
FABISH, born abt 1855, married John
WALDERA at North Creek, Wisconsin. Rosalia died at Milwaukee,
Wisconsin 4 July 1936. Her Parents were
Philip FABIAS and Mary SMIEC of Prussia. I believe it to be
Popielowa or Siolkowicz Opole (Kries Opole?)
John's grandfather Anthony WALDERA was also from the same area of
Silesia. John and his father Paul
WALDERA came to the US aboard the Allemania in 1872. Rosalia is
a mystery. I need some Silesian help.

I am researching the following surnames: Robert KOTHE, born 1860
at Guhlau, Kreis Juhrau in Schlesien, died
1945 in Schlabitz (near Juppendorf and Glogau) married Emilie
DENKE, born 30 September 1862 in Guhlau,
died 15 January 1936 at Schlabitz. They were Catholic. These
are my great grandparents, and I want to find
out about their parents. Hermann Julius NÖTHEL / NOETHEL /
NOTHEL born 11 January 1892 at
Mückendorf /Mueckendorf by Sprottau, died 3 December 1974 at
Limburg married to Hedwig Pauline
KOTHE born 5/15/1889 in Guhlau, died 27 February 1951 at Limburg.
I would like to learn about Hermann's
parents. Hedwig and Hermann lived in Glogau where my mother,
Hildegard WALLI NOTHEL was born on
16 July 1923. My mother was confirmed in the Schifflein Christi
Lutheran church at Glogau in 1937 or 1938,
but my grandmother was catholic. Gotthelf Max LIEBERT born 1866
at Freiberg, died 25 May 1930 at
Freiberg, married Anna Helene BERNHARDT 17 November 1888 at
Freiberg. Anna was born 16 August
1862 at Freiberg and died 26 May 1946 at Freiberg. I would like
to learn about the parents of Gotthelf and
Anna and if there are any living decendants. The family was
Catholic.

Ernst Gottlieb LANGNER (Evangelisch) my great grandfather was
born 19 July 1854 at Strehlitz / Juliusburg, Kreis Oels, Silesia.
Strehlitz had no Evangelical church; there was one at Juliusburg
2 kilometers to the south, so they probably attendet church
there. He died at Berlin Tempelhof 30 December 1940. He had two
brothers August LANGNER and Gottlieb LANGNER - they were later
drafted to army service and sent to different locations. One was
sent to Thuringen and one to Posen. Ernst was sent to Berlin and
he later married at Berlin-Mariendorf to Marie Auguste Emilie
RICHTER about 1880. His parents names are given as LANGNER, Karl
Gottlieb, and HETZKE, Johanna Dorothea, both from Strehlitz. The
Atlas of Silesia shows there are records for Juliusburg, EV.
C.B., M.B., D.&B.B. 1691 - 1937. The FHC has no films for this
location. I can find no information for the location of these
records. Any suggestions appreciated.
I am also researching Jacob LANGNER, (Roman Catholic) was born 24
April 1839 at Schiorke / Rosenberg; died 04 June 1930. He
married Hedwig PALLACH, born 07 October 1844 at Lowoschan /
Rosenberg. I am searching for ancestor information for a

1858. Magdalena married Johan
GAERTNER, son of Anton and Franziska POHLER GAERTNER /
GÄRTNER. Johan Gaertner was
born at Tharnau and was the brother of Caroline KRETSCHMER,
Anton, Josef, and Anna FRANKE. Johan
and Magdalena emigrated to Albany, New York where they were
married in 1882. The Kretschmers emigrated
to Albany in 1874 and the Frankes in 1887. All families were
Roman Catholic. There was no record of
Magdalena Buchale's birth on the LDS microfilm of births from
Tharnau or Gauers. I have no
