I am looking for missing family in Germany or the Kuznice
Polnocne, Walbrzych Poland area. The family names are BEER,
ENKELMANN, GAERTNER, HUEBNER, KINNER / KRINER and LEIMNER. My
great grandfather's name was (Carl) Heinrich ENKELMANN, born 2
October 1869 at Fellhammer, Kreis Waldenburg, County Breslau,
Silesia (now Kuznice Polnocne, Walbrzych county, Poland). On 22
May 1893, he wed Emma Beer at Waldenburg. He died in America on
8 September 1933. Emma was born 28 September 1871 at Ober
Waldenburg, Kreis Waldenburg, County Breslau and died in America
on 29 April 1949. It is believed Heinrich's father was named
Gottfried Enkelmann, and that he was born in Silesia. Emma
parents were Karl and Magarete Huebner Beer of Waldenburg.
The family understanding was that Emma's parents either owned a
china shop or at least painted china for a living and (Carl)
Heinrich was a coal miner. For this reason, it is claimed that
when Emma wed (Carl) Heinrich ENKELMANN, her family disowned her.
(Carl) Heinrich Enkelmann immigrated to America sometime between
May 1900 and mid 1901. He sent for his family to join him in
America and they were escorted here by his cousin, Paul KINNER
(KRINER ?) on the ship "US Finland", docking on 29 August 1903.
To (Carl) Heinrich and Emma's marriage were born 10 children, but
6 died shortly after birth. Those living were Helena Enkelmann,
born 19 Mar 1894 and (Karl) Robert Enkelmann, born 13 Jul 1895,
both at Fellhammer; plus Elfrieda Enkelmann born 14 Aug 1901 and
Heinrich Enkelmann born 4 November 1902, both at Dortmund,
Westphalia, Germany. All immigrated to America and died in
America. I am the granddaughter of Helena.
Family records show Carl had the following relatives (1) a
brother in Silesia named Gustav ENKELMANN (born 18 November 1877,
probably at Fellhammer, but I am unsure) who married a lady named
Anna; (2) sister named Ida Enkelmann, born 23 April (though the
year is unknown) who married Hermann LEIMER in Silesia and having
at least one offspring, named Albert Leimner; and (3) sister
named Augusta Enkelmann, born 17 November (year also unknown)
that married Ernst GAERTNER, with a possible 2 sons named Herbert
Gaertner and Albert Gaertner. All three of these siblings
remained in Germany at the time (Carl) Heinrich left. When Emma
and the children immigrated to America, they were escorted by
(Carl) Heinrich's cousin, Paul Kinner (Kriner?) and they arrived
in New York on 8 September 1903. Thank you for any help you can
provide.

My great grandfather, Johann Gottlieb LEHMANN, with his wife, nee
Caroline Sophia Amelia LEMM, immigrated to Australia, leaving
Bremen, Germany, on the ship "Leontine" in April 1848, together
with children of his ? sister, their names being Frederich,
Christian and Rosalina HINNEBERG. Roots web has indicated that
the father of Johann Gottlieb was probably Gottfried Lehmann born
22 February 1797 (?1790), at Sawade-Crunberg, Silesia, Prussa,
and that his wife was Anna Elizabeth LEHMANN, nee IRMLER, born
1805, in the same place. There is some doubt that they are
Johann's parents. It would be very nice if I could obtain
details of the parents of Johann Gottlieb LEHMANN.

I'm looking for information about my Silesian roots. My
great-grandmother's name was Margaret MARGGRAFF, born 3 July 1887
at Buckowine (kreis Trebnitz), in the Reg.-Bez. Breslau, Poland.
The city is today known under the Polish name Bukowina and lies
just northeast of Wroclaw (former Breslau). It was then, and
still is, a very small town of a few hundred inhabitants.
Margaret had a brother named Kurt who was a dairy-producer at
Buckowine. Their parents were Eugen MARGGRAFF and Clara GUTTMANN.
Any information on these lineages are helpful. Eugen may have
worked a royal estate near Buckowine, but very little about him
is known. Please contact me if you have any interesting leads
about Buckowine or the people mentioned.

(Evangelische / Lutheran)
I believe, but can't prove, that my great-grandmother's family
came from Silesia, possibly from Breslau. This comes from family
rumor (tradition) and other undocumented sources. My
great-grandmother is Pauline KLUGE, born 1851, place unknown and
died 1924 at Niles Center / Skokie, Cook county, Illinois, USA.
She was married to Carl STEIF or STEIFF in September 1872 in "the
old country" and they immigrated to America, arriving in Cook
county, Illinois by December 1872. Pauline had 5 known siblings,
Julius, Julia, Joseph, Marie, and Cecelia. Nothing is known
about their parents. One unreliable source suggested her
father's name was Harry or Heinrich. The family was Evangelische
/ Lutheran. Julius was born in 1849, place unknown and died in
1935 in Chicago, Cook county, Illinois. He was married to Emilie
STEIF or STEIFF who was a sister to Carl STEIF in Illinois.
Julius and Emilie traveled to the USA with Pauline and Carl in
1872. Julia, dates and places unknown, married Frank NAVROTH in
Illinois. They lived, at least for awhile, in Morton Grove, Cook
county, Illinois. Joseph was born in 1859 in Poland and died in
Evanston, Cook county, Illinois in 1940. He arrived in cook
County, Illinois in 1880. He married Anna POPPENHAGEN in 1885 at
Niles Center, Illinois. Marie was born in Poland in 1855 and
died in 1933 in Illinois. I do not know when she arrived in the
USA. She was married to Gustav WEIGT at Niles Center, Cook
county, Illinois. Cecelia was born 1853 in Poland and died in
1913 at Niles Center, Cook county, Illinois. She married Johann
Gottfried THIEL in "the old country" and they immigrated to
America, arriving in the USA about 1883.

around 1880's via a ship departing from Bremen, Germany. I would
appreciate any feedback on this information. Thanks.

eMail Address:
I am trying to find information on my great-great-grandfather,
Hermann Gustav HAYN, (possibly Gustav HERMANN in the old
country). He was born 8 May 1841 at Kerzdorf, Kreis Lauban,
Schlesien to Ernst and Henrietta HAYN. I was unable to find his
birth record in the church records for Lauban, so I suspect that
they may be located at Holzkirch. Unfortunately I do not have
access to them for that time period. Does anyone know if they
exist? And how to find them? Hermann came to the US in 1858. I
also found him on the ship's log for the "SS New York" on 25 June
1866. He was traveling with an Auguste HAYN, possibly his
sister. I traced both of them to Pittsfield, Massachusetts
where an Eleanore Auguste HEYNE married someone with the last
name of TRAUSCHKE who was from Lauban. Thanks.
OWEN, Angelika Agnes (Angie) SCHWARZ
Australia
eMail address: angio@fishinternet.com.au
My sisters and I have just started to trace our family roots.
Our father's name was Hans Adolf SCHWARZ, boirn 9 February 1918
at Essig, Hungary / Yugoslavia. His brother was Henrich Albert
SCHWARZ, who was born 5 November 1917 at Szekesfehervar, Hungary.
Our grandmother was Edith Agnes REINSCH SCHWARZ, born 29
September 1896 at Sagan, Silesia, Germany, and she resided at
Berlin. She was one of 7 children, 2 boys and 5 girls. We only
know the name of six of them - Lily, Else, Albert, Schenk, Selma
and our grandmother Agnes. Selma marries a man named BLUMFELD
and they had a daughter named Edith. She married Fritz WEGENER
who was a director / agent of Circus Hagenbeck at Hamburg /
Stelling. When our grandmother, who was a trick rider, was with
Circus Hagenbeck, we think that the owners at the time were
Carlos and Wilhelm HAGENBECK. Our grandmother performed with
Circus Paula Busch, Circus Knie, Circus Krone, and Sarrasani
Circus and in 1921 she was with the Moscow Circus. We also know
that the Reinsch children had a cousin named Elvira. Our uncle
remembers that when dad and he were small children, the circus
animals were kept at a horse stud (farm) at Torglow / Vow (Vor ?)
Pommern, Ueckermunde, during the winter. My grandfather, Otto
Friedrich Albert SCHWARZ, was born 6 May 1888 at Rothutte, Hartz
and resided at Berlin. They were married at Berlin / Mitte on 12
December 1921 aand were divorced at Berlin 8 July 1933. We know
they were trick riders at the Sarrasani Circus in Germany. For a
short time my parents had a circus named Circus Schwarz. After
the divorce my father opened up a restaurant named "Schwarz".
This restaurant was for artists and we think it was near
Friedrich Strasse at Berlin. He also had a radio shop at
Wansbeck, Berlin. A relative on my grandmother's side, named
Albert REINSCH, was born 28 June 1840 and died 8 October 1888
possibly was our great grandfather, or our great uncle. He was a
director for artistic people. Maybe you are part of our family
tree. If so, we would appreciate any information you may be able
to provide us. Hoping to hear from you soon.

REIMANN, Robyn
eMail address: rrpruitt@aol.com
I am hoping to find information on my great-great-great-
grandparents, Christoph REIMANN and Anna Rosina MARSCHALL.
Christoph was born 10 February 1800 at Guegitz (sp?) Poland --
according to Christian Fiess Files Index. Family history says
he had a brother, Ferdinand, who was a shopkeeper at Warsaw about
1830. Anna Rosina was born in 1801 "bei Kalish", Poland, and
they were married in Poland in 1821. Two of their children were
born in Kaminsky by Chelmno, Bydgoskiego, Poland. I show more
than one Christoph REIMANN on the West Prussian Land Register ...
also Adam, Jacob, Mattheus and Mechel MARSCHALL. Christoph and
Anna Rosina moved their family to Plotzk, Bessarabia, South
Russia, where they lived until their deaths. Their son, Andreas,
(my great-great-grandfather) immigrated to America in 1878 and
settled in South Dakota. I am also researching the following
branches of my family tree, some of which may come from the same
area. Any information would be very much appreciated. Andreas
BELLON, Ludwig and Wendelin DEEG, Wilhem GROSS / GROSZ who
married Elisabeth DANMA, and Karl Friedrich HOEFEL. Thank
you.

Who knows something? I'm searching for two German immigrants to
the United States and what happened to them after their arrival
in 1905 and 1908 at Ellis Island: Pauline SCHOLZ, born 1886 in
Lower Silesia (now Poland), at a little village named Hockenau
(Kreis Liegnitz), and her brother Gustav SCHOLZ, born there in
1881. Both seemed to have lived in Nebraska (perhaps at Omaha,
but this isn't sure). Pauline was married to a man of an Irish
family, (name unfortunately unknown), and had one daughter (or
more?),named Eleanor (born about 1915). Gustav SCHOLZ married a
woman of a family from Ulm, Germany (name unknown), had three
children. He died, with one of his sons, during a Tornado
(about 1930 ?). The parents of Pauline and Gustav SCHOLZ
remained with their other six children in Silesia. The parents
were: Karl Heinrich SCHOLZ and Ernestine KLEMMT / or KLAEMT, both
born about 1850. Who has got Silesian ancestors and can find a
relation to these searched persons ? I would be very glad to
hear something aboet my great-aunt Paauline and great-uncle
GUSTAV or their children /relatives.
TAUSCHKE, John
eMail address: jtjayne@bigpond.com
I am searching for members of the TAUSCHKE family from Silesia
(Schlesien) -- Kreis Gruenberg. I have very little information
about these ancestors of mine. Johann Georg TAUSCHKE was
possibly born in Hamburg Germany in 1810 and his wife, Hannah
Dorothea JEICKEL was also born possibly at Hamburg in 1815. They
were married in Jan 1840 in Hamburg. In 1840 they had a son,
Frederich Wilhelm TAUSCHKE, not sure where born. In 1842 they
had another son, Johann Georg TAUSCHKE, and then another in 1845
- Gottfried William TAUSCHKE. I understand that this birth was
possibly in the Kreis Gruenberg, near present day Bodjadla in
Poland. In 1847, they had a daughter, Caroline Louisa TAUSCHKE.
All of these children were born in Silesia, but no further
details are given. Some time in 1848 / 1849 they immigrated to
Port Philip Bay, Melbourne Australia from Hamburg, but no records
exist that I can find of their immigration, despite checking
shipping records of the Goddefroy, Wappaus and Dockenhuden
vessels which left at about that time. They had another child,
Heinrich Emil TAUSCHKE at Melbourne in early 1850 and had another
5 children whilst in Australia. They finally settled in the
Ballarat district of western Victoria and died in the 1880's. I
am trying to trace their history in Silesia prior to their
departure but have found little so far. Any help would be
appreciated.

eMail address: jtempli1@tampabay.rr.com
I have just recently discovered that my husband's grandparents,
Paul and Gottliebe TEMPLIN and their 4 children, emigrated in
1893 from Hamburg, Germany to Halifax, Canada. They show their
place of residence as Leibisch in the (Federal) State of
Schlesien. I am trying to locate where this town or village was
at that time. Thank you for your help.

(Lutheran)
My great-great-grandmother, Mary Bertha STEIN, was born at
Steinau, Silesia, Prussia in 1846; religion- Lutheran. Her
parents were Carl Friedrich Wilhelm STEIN, born 1819, and Louisa
STARK, born 1820. Carl STEIN'S parents were, Gottlob STEIN and
Elisabeth BISDROF. This STEIN family is supposed to be related
to the Baron VON STEIN but so far, we cannot make the connection.
In Bertha's personal hymn book dated 1864 (she immigrated with
her parents and other siblings to Canada in 1863) she has
handwritten the name Erich FRIEDERIDER on one page and Erich
FRIEDERIDR on another with Stade Keppler beside it.
I would like help finding: a) Stade Keppler in Germany; b)
Connecting our STEIN family to the Baron, if possible; and c)
Finding anyone with these other surnames in their database that
may be related.
