DAU, Angelika LEPPICH
eMail address: DauAngi@aol.com
I am looking for information about my family in Gleiwitz/
Oberschlesien. The name of my grandfather was Eugen Emil LEPPICH.
He was born at Kieferstädtel (Kieferstaedtel /
Kieferstadtel) in 1891. Who can help me? Thanks.
HANNIG, Robin
eMail address: RAHannig00@aol.com
I am researching the HANNIG line. I have finally found that they
came to the USA from Silesia. I am still trying to find what
town in Silesia they came from. Franz HANNIG and Julia STEFFAN,
vital dates and locations in Silesia unknown, had 4 known
children: Franz Florian HANNIG, born 4 May 1865; Rudolf Adolf
HANNIG, born 17 June 1866; Anna HANNIG, birth date unknown; and
Julia HANNIG, birthdate unknown. The parents and daughter Julia
stayed in Silesia. Sons Franz and Rudolf, and daughter Anna, all
immigrated to Wheeling, West Virginia, USA. If anyone has
information on this family, particulary a town of residence in
Silesia, please eMail me.
HUNT, Carlotta LEHMANN

(Roman Catholic)
I am seeking information: Ferdinand LEHMANN, born 20 August 1840
to Wenzel LEHMANN and Agnes Maria Anna LEHMANN geborn JAROSCH at
Steinplatz, in former Silesia. Later family history places this
family at Frydek-Mystek. Is the former Steinplatz a village near
this area? I am seeking confirmation of the marriage of W.
LEHMANN and Agnes Maria Anna JAROSCH. Religion: Catholic. Thank
you for any helpful information.
KELLER, Klaus

1796 at Ratibor former Silesia, Amalie JERWIN (catholic) born

I am looking for more infpormation on August Adolf KOLLEY and
Adelheid GEBAUER, (born about 1850, died about 1930). They lived
near Frankenstein, Silesia, Germany in the nearby Village
Schraebsdorf or Peterwitz.
LABUDA, Lois

My grandfather, William DEBHARDT, was born 19 February 1866 at
Ludweiler, Germany. His father, Gottlieb Wilhelm DEBHARDT, was
born 31 March 1837 at Froslishdorf, Silesia. His father was
Johann Gottfried GEBHARDT and mother was Anna Marie UNGER. I
would think maybe from Silesia also? On the marriage of
Gottlieb and Catherine DEUTSCH Gebhardt, the location looks like
Camerau or Cameran? Is there such a place there? Thank you
LEWIS, Charles
eMail address: thelewises@home.com
I am searching for information on my ancestor, BOHNE, Kurt (son
of Gustav BOHNE and Matilda SOTA BOHNE) born February 1860 in
Breslau, Schlesien, died October 1910 in New York City. Kurt
emmigrated to the United States in 1884 or 1887 through Bremen,
Germany. His name in USA was Curt (or Charles) BONE, married
WEISSE, Marie E. in June 1890. I am seeking information on
Kurt's parents, siblings, decendants or ancestors.
LIVINGSTON, Eileen B.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
eMail address: EBLiving65@aol.com
Thank you very much for looking up my query. Since there are two
different counties involved in your references, I am assuming
that Glogau, Glogau precinct, Liegnitz county, Silesia, is the
one I am seeking. I have, within the last two weeks, learned the
name of the wife of William Frederick Valentine SCHULTZE (his
name in America), [Friedrich Wilhelm SCHULTZE, his name in
Germany]. Her name was Friederike Luise MICHAELIS, and they were
married in Gross Glogau, Niederschlesien (about 1792?). Their
daughter, Amalie Auguste SCHULTZE [Amelia Louise, referenced by
her father in America], was born in Gross Glogau in 1793. She
married Pierre Henri RAYNAL in 1815 in Osnabruck, Germany. I am
seeking more information on her father and his wife. His other
three children, Edward C., Henry F. W., and Gustavus, were born
after Amalie.
MARSHALL, Beverly
eMail address: b.marsha@worldnet.att.net
I am looking for relatives and information on ancestors from
Prussia, Silesia Germany. My great grandfather was Ignatius
(possibly Ignatz) KATZMARK (possibly KATZMARECH before coming to
America). He was born 28 January 1868 in Silesia. He married
Pauline WOLLSHOCK (not certain of spelling) also from Silesia,
birthdate unknown. They emigrated to America and located in
Murphysboro Illinois. Pauline died 23 December 1918. The date
of death of Ignatius is unknown. They had a daughter named
Fannie Katzmark, born 4 November 1885, died 12 December -1919.
Any help would be appreciated.
NEWMAN, Julie
eMaail address: julienew@uslink.net
Here is what Julie found on the Internet concerning the Ship
"Silesia": The "Silesia" was the first of two vessels with this
name owned by the Hamburg America Line and was built by Caird &
Company of Greenock in 1870. Her stats: 3,142 gross tons, length
340 ft x beam 40 ft, one funnel, two masts, iron construction,
single screw and a speed of 12 knots. There were accommodations
for 90-1st class, 130-2nd class and 520-3rd class passengers. It
was launched on 14 April 1869, and left Hamburg on her maiden
voyage to Le Havre, France and New York, New York on 23 June
1869. She commenced her last New York voyage on 24 February 1875
and was then laid up until 1877 when she was fitted with compound
engines and was subsequently used on the Hamburg - West Indies
service. In 1887 she was sold to H.F.Swan of Newcastle and
renamed "Pacifica" and in 1888 was resold to the Italian company,
Lavarello, who renamed her "Citta di Napoli". In 1891, she went
to another Italian company, La Veloce, who named her "Montevideo"
and on 12 February 1898 she was wrecked near the Lobos Island,
River Plate. In 1899 she was refloated and broken up. [North
Atlantic Seaway by N.R.P.Bonsor, vol.1, p.390] [Merchant Fleets
in Profile by D.Haws, vol.4, Hamburg America Line.] As you seem
certain that the "Silesia" sailed to New York in 1882, it is
probable that she was used mainly on the West Indies service but
made one or more voyages to New York. [Posted to The ShipsList by
Ted Finch - 31 October 1997]. The surnames of Silesia captains
inccludes Trautmann; Hebich; Ludwig; Schwensen; Albers; Kordell;
Vogelgesang; Barends; Lubbe; Kaempff; Droescher amd Bauer. For
more details on this ship, including the North American and
German aand Internet sourees, contact Julie,

I am looking for information about the GRAETZ (Gratz) family.
Maria (Marie/Mary) was born 8 December 1845 at Schlein,
Schlesien. Her parents are Ernest and Ernestine GRAETZ. Maria
immigrated to the United States in 1856, settling at Appleton,
Wisconsin. Any information about this area in Schlesien or this
family would be greatly appreciated.
Webmaster's Note: I notice 5 links for the GRAETZ surname
using the FEEFHS WebSite Index. Your search would be more
productive if you also shared the name of the husband and the
religion of the family. Remember to advise Joe if or when your
eMail ISP changes after completing your course of study at
Harvard.

My Ancestors Johanne Elisabeth ARNOLD nee (geborn) ANDERS was
born at Gorisseiffen near Lowenberg on 3 March 1797. She was
later widowed and immigrated to Australia with 5 sons. Her
husbands name was Johann Gottfried Arnold, who we think was born
about 1794 at Neundorf or Obber Gorrisseiffen near Lowenberg. He
married Johanne Elizabeth ANDERS in the year 1819. He is
believed to have died in 1850. We would like to trace the family
tree back further. We would like to know the birthdate of Johann
Gottfried Arnold and the names of his parents and where they
lived.

I am seeking information on my grandmother: Emma DORFER, born at
Lauterbach, Silesia 1 February 1885, died at Berlin 2 February
1967. She married a man by the surname of ISMER. I don't know
my grandfather's given name or birthplace, vital dates or
locations, etc. They had two children: Erna, my mother, died in
Canada in 1943 and Erwin, who was living in Karl Marx Stadt
(called Chemintz, Saxony after the fall of the wall in 1991). I
assume that name has now been changed. Would be grateful for any
and all information.
RESLER, Timothy
eMail address: tresler@gateway.net
I am researching my great-great-great-grandparents. They were
Gottlieb and Theresa RESLER. I found Gottlieb listed in an 1864
Breslau addressbook. He came to America the same year.
(Estimate his birth year at about 1835-1840). Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.

1881. He died 17 April 1941 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan,
Canada. (SILICIA is now spelt SILESIA is now part of Poland).
He was baptized 31 July 1881 in a Lutheran parish at Bielitz,

I am looking for the history of my Grandfather, Albert Gustav
Richard TRAGMANN. He was born 22 November 1903 at Liebau (Kreis

Landeshut). Who can help me?
WUNDROCK, Bob
eMail address: rwundrock@yahoo.com
I am looking to identify the family link between two persons
named August WUNDROCK with different birth dates and places.
Here's what I know: Joseph WUNDROCK (born 1837, my great-
grandfather) left the village of Perschnitz (now Pierstnica),
emigrating in 1884 for Wisconsin. His family followed in 1885.
August WUNDROCK (born 1870, forefather of the Castrop-Rauxel,
Germany Wundrocks) was from Koenigsville, just east of
Perschnitz. I am trying to find their relationship. Joseph is
not the father of THAT August Wundrock. However he IS the father
of an August Wundrock, born in 1868, who is my grandfather.
I just returned from a one day research foray into Wroclaw. I
looked through the regional and University archives in that city.
The archives that I wanted to research, the cathedral archives,
was not open that day. I need to find a missing link between the
remaining Wundrock family in Germany and the Wundrocks in the
USA. There have been very few people born in the world with that
last name. They all seem to have come from a small area in the
Kreis Militsch in Silesia. Where may I find records of that
Kreis, if they do exist? Some Wundrocks in Germany spell their
name WUNDROK.
Note From Joe Rieman: The actual location name is
Grosz Perschnitz or Zeidel. It was close.
