Does anyone know if there was a ship named "Silesia" that may have landed in the US around 1879? If so, where could I find out details of the ports?

BLUHM, Donald
eMail address: DonBluhm@aol.com

I'm looking for my grandparents and family. August F. BLUHM was born 3 March 1860 and Johanna KUBITZKE was born 14 ?, 1863. The only clue I have is from the death certificate that stated Johanna was born at Rosenberg, Silesia. They married and had a daughter EMMA, born 14 July 1884. They immigrated to America, sailing from Bremen on the ship "Braunschweig" in October 1884, arriving at Baltimore 12 November 1884. I am looking for church birth and marriage records to tie the families. Bertha BLUHM born July 1865, came with them. Frederich BLUHM, born 11 December 1852, was a brother who married Augueste MOGGA and Fred KUBITZKE came to the USA earlier, Any help on these families is welcomed, Thank you.

BRUSCHKE-REIMER, Almut
Germany
eMail address Reimer-Nufringen@t-online.de

I am seeking information about the ancestors: Wilhelm Christian BRUSCHKE, born sometime in the 18th century at Kummelwitz, Kreis Strehlen, Silesia/Schlesien, (today Komorowice, Poland), he worked as a gardener. He had at least one son, Johann Christian BRUSCHKE, born in 1791 at Kosemitz, Kreis Frankenstein, Silesia / Schlesien (today: Kozmice/Poland) who worked as a coachman and in 1818 married Johanna Eleonore WOLF (born in 1790, her father was Gottfried WOLF, a carpenter, who was born at Kosemitz). Johann Christian BRUSCHKE and Johanna Eleonore WOLF had at least one son, called Johann Karl Wilhelm BRUSCHKE, born 10 October 1823 at Klein-Ellguth, Kreis Militsch, Silesia/Schlesien (today Ligota, Poland) or Klein-Ellguth, Kreis Reichenbach, Silesia / Schlesien (today: Ligota Male, Poland). He worked as a servant and on 14 November 1858 married Ernestine Caroline SAUER (born 22 September 1833) and had 2 daughters (Pauline Bertha Bruschke, born 25 August 1871 and Luise Bruschke) and 4 sons (Paul Bruschke, born 1876 at Nimptsch, Kreis Reichenbach, Silesia / Schlesien [today: Niemca, Poland]; Heinrich Bruschke, born 1884 at Nimptsch; Wilhelm Bruschke and Karl Bruschke). The parents of his wife Ernestine Caroline SAUER where Wilhelm SAUER, a bricklayer, born 1802 at (Ober-)Peilau, Kreis Reichenbach, Silesia / Schlesien (today Pilawa, Poland) and Maria Rosina Radetzky, born in 1807. The father of Wilhelm SAUER was KARL SAUER who he worked as a parish counciler. The father of Maria Rosina RADETZKY was August RADETZKY, born probably at Gaumitz, Kreis Reichenbach, Silesia / Schlesien (today Gunice, Poland). Any information about the ancestors of the above persons or families would be greatly appreciated.

DeMELLO, Christina

I am seeking information about the ancestors of Herrmann Julius Rudolph PENSCHKE, born 11 June 1827, died 13 September 1914 both at Naumburg an der Bober, Freystadt, Schlesien. His wife's first name was Emilie, born 6 March 1834 at Dittersdorf (Jauer or Sprottau), died 8 March 1912 at Naumburg an der Bober. They were married 10 August 1858 and had four children. One of those four children was Gustav Gottlieb Richard "Richard" PENSCHKE, born 3 November 1865 at Naumburg an der Bober, died 19 November 1949 at Fuhlsbuttel, Hamburg, Germany. Herrmann was recognized by the city of Naumburg an der Bober for being the oldest 'stadtwachtmeister'. Any information would about the ancestors of the above, any of his other children, or his wife's family would be greatly appreciated.

FONSECA-WOLLHEIM, Hermann da
Belgium
eMail address: hermann.da.fonseca-wollheim@pandora.be

I'm researching the WOLLHEIM family from Breslau, starting with Jacob WOLLHEIM (originally perhaps PINSCHOWER or PINCZOWER), living in the second half of the 18th century. He had four sons who, probably all of them, moved to Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden or other German towns: 1) Scholem WOLLHEIM, maried successively to Sara / Sorel RAWITZ and Henriette KLECZEWSKA. Their children were Caesar WOLLHEIM (shipping company on the Oder river and coal merchant at Berlin), maried to Caroline POLLACK; Julius WOLLHEIM, maried to Julie CLEMENT; Hermann WOLLHEIM; Louis WOLLHEIM; and Jeanette WOLLHEIM, maried to Emanuel BENDIX. 2) Hirsch Jacob WOLLHEIM, maried 1809 at Hamburg to Henriette GOLDSCHMIDT and died at Hamburg 24 July 1834. Their children were Anton Edmund WOLLHEIM; born at Hamburg 12 February 1810; went to school at Breslau, died at Berlin 24 October 1884; Jacob WOLLHEIM, maried to Adle Meurice from Brussels, died at Hamburg; Jeanette WOLLHEIM; maried to ? MONCA; Moritz WOLLHEIM; Minna WOLLHEIM, maried to MONCA; Hermann Johann WOLLHEIM, maried successively to Maria OHRT and Emma Dorothea ECK; Rosalie WOLLHEIM.

3) Samuel WOLLHEIM, maried to GUTMANN. Their children were Emanuel WOLLHEIM; Leopold WOLLHEIM; Edouard WOLLHEIM; Ferdinand WOLLHEIM; Jeanette WOLLHEIM; maried with Jakob BLUMENTHAL. Children: Marie Rebekka WOLLHEIM, maried with Adolf SCHNEIDER; Julie WOLLHEIM, maried to RIEGNER; Emilie WOLLHEIM, maried with Samuel STILLMANN; Fany WOLLHEIM, maried with Louis BERGER; and Pauline WOLLHEIM; maried with BERGER. 4) Salomon WOLLHEIM, maried to Rosalie OELSNER. Their children were: Bernhard WOLLHEIM; Bessalie WOLLHEIM; married to Pauline HILLEL; Pauline WOLLHEIM, maried to Abraham WEISLER; Alexander WOLLHEIM; Fritz WOLLHEIM and Jacob WOLLHEIM. The coal merchant Caesar WOLLHEIM had the following offspring: Hermine WOLLHEIM; maried to Otto FEIST; children: Paul FEIST, Ernst FEIST; Hans FEIST; Martha WOLLHEIM; maried to Max REICHENHEIN, children: Robert REICHENHEIN; Ernst REICHENHEIN; Claus REICHENHEIN; David Emil WOLLHEIM; Else WOLLHEIM, maried to Franz Oppenheim, children: Franz OPPENHEIM; Martha OPPENHEIM; married to Ernst VON SIMON; Kurt OPPENHEIM.

I am looking for any information on the ancestors of Ernestine Louise HABERECHT, born 11 January 1867 at Silbitz, baptized 14 January 1867. She was a cook and later on married Johann Karl HERRMANN and they moved to Nimptsch. Do you know how I can get in touch with local archives, churches or so? Thanks a lot.

JONES, Chris
eMail address: cjjones@ubtanet.com

I am looking for the parents of Wilhelm HOEHNE. He was born about 1802 at Jerschendorf, Silesia, Prussia. I know that he was married to Anna BOTHE, born about 1806 at Jerschendorf. They had a son named Gustav Johann Rudolf Hoehne, born 5 May 1834 at Jerschendorf. I have been trying to find info on Jerschendorf or Wilhelm Hoehne and his wife and their parents. If you have any information, I would greatly appreciate it.

NAEHRIG, Sandra
Switzerland
eMail address: snaehrig@magnet.ch

I'm searching for information on the NAEHRIG family of Silesia. The name is very "rare", so I suspect anyone from there with this name must be related. The earliest I have is Christian Traugott NAEHRIG born 1772 in Landeshut, was married in 1802 to Christiane Juliane RICHNER born 1778. Son Carl Eduardt NAEHRIG, born 1810 at Landeshut, married Luise Sophie Carolina BEER in 1838. To me it is astonishing that Carl was Evangelisch and Luise was Katholisch. Son Julius Hermann Ferdinand Naehrig, born 1841 at Landeshut, was married in 1902 to Eugenie Josepha Franciska BARON born 1869 at Oppeln, Oberschlesien. The marriage took place at Breslau between the Protestant Julius and the Catholic Eugenie. Karl Heinrich Hermann Naehrig, born 1904, and Johanna Maria Karolina Naehrig, born 1906, were both born at Breslau. The 3rd child, Theodor Friedrich Hermann Naehrig, was born in 1909 at Trebnitz. I can't find Landeshut on a map -- was it a Kreis and not a town?

I have found another descendant looking for her ancestors and think we are probably connected but haven't found the link yet. Ernst NAEHRIG and Rosina REIMANN had a son, Karl NAEHIRG, born 1855 at Niederschreibendorf bei Strehlin. In 1863 he married Anna Taraba, born in 1861. Their son, Paul Karl NAEHRIG, born 1894 at Breslau married Elsbeth Elfriede Gertrud Bock in 1916. Their son Helmut NAEHRIG was born in 1916 at Breslau. Breslau is our common ground.

PETTIT, Paul
Riverside County, California, USA
eMail address: cpettit@telis.org

I am researching families of Kreis Frankenstein, Reichenbach and neighboring areas. Johan Gottleib ZWIENER, born 1823 and his wife, Augusta Caroline PETRASCH, born 1833, emigrated to US in 1872 with Caroline's parents Gottfried Petrasch and Helena KAGLER Petrasch. The Zweiner family were living at Weigelsdorf for several generations. They are related to Ernst Wilhelm Zweiner and wife Anna Rosin BOMIN who were at Lampersdorff area in 1728 when their son Ernst Gottlieb Zwiener was born in 1728 and baptized at the Lampersdorf Church. Ernst Gottlieb was a page for the Lord of Reichenbach and a neighboring Lord. He returned to Reicehnbach and was made the Forester of Tannenberg by the Reicehbach Lord and later a Pasture "ranger" at Weigelsdorf. He had two sons when he died in 1780 and his wife had preceeded him in death. Johan Gottlieb Zwiener born 1823 may have been the son of Johann Gottleib Zwiener and a wife whose maiden name was DRAUSCKE / TRAUSCHKE. Gottfied Petrasch, born 1798, was the son of ?? Petrasch and wife (nee FLEISCHNER) from Gerlachsdorf. A son of Gottfied and Helena was Gottfried Petrasch whose wife was Helena REISEN who immigrated to America in 1869 and evenutally wound up in the Southwest and Northwest United States. Any information filling the gap between Johan Gottlieb Sr. and Ernst Gottlieb is very welcome.

I'm looking for the parents of Gustav THIEL, born 1892 or 1893 at Zechelwitz (Ciechlowice), Kreis Trebnitz. His father was Karl THIEL at Zechelwitz, who married N. N. MÜ,LLER (MUELLER / MULLER).

RONNEWINKEL, Eberhard
eMail address: ERonnewinkel@t-online.de

I'm looking for the ancestors of my grandfather (mothers side): KITTEL, Johann Joseph KITTEL was born 6 February 1872 at Trockenburg (Ed. Note: the correct spelling is thought to be Trachenberg), Oberschlesien. His mother name was Josepha KITTEL. Thank you for your help.

Addition by Ebrehard posted 23 October 2000: My grandfather Johann Joseph KITTEL, born 6th Februrary 1872 at Trockenberg Oberschlesien. His School-Report from 31 March 1888 says that he visited the "Elementary School" at Trockenberg - not Trachenberg or Trockenburg - and that he was born and lived at Trockenberg. Trockenberg belonged in Prussian times to the "Kreis Beuthen".

I am looking for information about the Silesian aristocratic family von Landskron, especially one member of this family who lived in the 1530s, Caspar von LANDSKRON. Can you help me or advise me where to find more about that family?

SENFTLEBEN, Martin, Ph.D.
eMail address: drmartinus@gmx.net

I have started looking for the roots of my family. My father, Gottfried Senftleben, was born at Grünberg (Gruenberg / Grunberg, Schlesien). The earliest known ancestor is Ernst Wilhelm Senftleben, born on 6 December 1807 at Grünberg, date of death unknown, married to Johanne Henschel on 31 July 1839. One of their children was Traugott Johannes Senftleben, born 25 November 1846 at Grünberg, married Johanna Sigge on 31 March 1880. One of their children was Heinrich Gotthard Senftleben, born 12 July 1882, who married Margarete Gertrud Valentin (born on 13 November 1891 at Guben) on 4 May 1911. I live in Germany, but as a beginner in this area and quite active on the Internet I hope to get some help from this end. Thank you in advance.

SEYLER, Paul
eMail address: seylerp@npsnet.com

I am looking for information on SEYLER, Gottfried. Possibly born at either Breslau or Lissa, Preussen. He founded the Seyleraches Waisenhaus (orphanage) at or near Wuste Waltersdorf (near Breslau) for the orphans of the Seven Years War (1756 - 1763). Also I believe Gottfried SEYLER owned and operated the Seyler Linen Mill at Wuste Waltersdorf during same period of time. I have a picture of the Seyler Mausoleum in Breslau. I have not been able to establish a date of birth, or marriage or wife's name but Gottfried SEYLER had a son, Philip SEYLER, who was born at Breslau 13 August 1812. Gottfried SEYLER must have emigrated to England sometime after his son was born in 1812 as he reappears in London, but died prior to September 1838. Any help with confirmed dates as to birth, marriage, wife's name etc. and or any information on the orphanage or linen mill would be appreciated.
