BARTZ, Arden A.

eMail address: sea-and-sun@worldnet.att.net
Daniel BARTZ, my great-great-grandfather, born 1821, was married
to Susanna (no maiden name found). Julius BARTZ, my
great-grandfather, was born 28 September 1850, married Amelica
SCHATZ 12 March 1871 at Crystal Lake, Wisconsin, and died
11 October 1936 in Coloma, Wisconsin. The Bartzes came from
Ratschin (Polish: Raczyn) in Kreis Kolmar, Province of Posen, in
1856. They emigrated through Hamburg, Germany to Quebec, Canada,
and then to Wisconsin. I would be grateful for any additional
information you can give me. Thank you.
BEGIER, Jr., Harry P.
eMail address: harry@begier.com
My grandfather, Sylvester BEGIER, was born at Polawarz, Posen, in
1866. I have not been able to find a town called Polawarz.
Today there are persons bearing the BEGIER name living at Buk,
Oborniki, and the city of Poznan. I believe that Polawarz was
the German name of the town but I cannot seem to find the
present-day Polish name if the town survived the wars. Part of
the BEGIER family sometimes used the name BEGER, but this seems
to have ended in the early 1800's. I would be grateful for any
information.

I am seeking information on parents and possible siblings of
Julius JONAS and his sister, Rosalie (my
great-great-grandmother). Julius JONAS was born in 1836 in Posen
and
emigrated to the USA in 1855, living among other places, in
Quincy, Illinois and later Chicago. Rosalie JONAS was born 8
April 1845 in Posen and emigrated in 1861, to Quincy, Illinois,
where she married my great-great-ggrandfather, Herman HIRSCH
within the next year. Any help on tracing this family before
emigration will be much appreciate.

I am seeking information on Adolph SZYSKA or SZYSZKA, born 2 June
1824 at or near Ostrowo or Adelnau, Posen. He married Carolina
PETROLL, born 29 March 1834 at Fabricke. Both were Lutheran. I
am especially looking for the correct birth place for Adolph and
the date of their marriage.
Adolph Szyska's family settled in New York City, after part of
their family emigrated to the USA in 1885. Adolph died there in
1916. He changed the spelling of his name from Szyska to SYSKA
when he came to the US. His daughter Pauline Berta (born 12
March 1869 at Adelnau or Daniszyn) married William BRUNOTTE in
New York; these are my grandparents. William and Pauline
BRUNOTTE moved to Chicago about 1903. His brother Theodor
Leonhard Paul Brunotte married her sister Juliane Bertha (born 5
June 1875); they also moved to Chicago. The older brothers and
sisters of Pauline and Juliane stayed in New York and married
there. I have been able to find out when they died and where
they are buried and whom some of them married. Thank you for any
information you may have.

I am searching for information on the SCHULTZ (SCHULZ?) family
from Zachasberg, Chodziez, Posen, Prussia. The father was her:
Johann SCHULTZ; the mother: Rosina (Ann?) SELL (ZELL?). Thier
children: Ernest A. SCHULTZ (born 1820); Pauline SCHULTZ (born 22
June 1828, married Martin DOEGE/DAYE at Zachasberg, his 2nd
wife); Carl Friedrich SCHULTZ (born 1839, died 1907 in North
Dakota); ? SCHULTZ (Mrs. W. A. HASSE) (lived at Lincoln,
Nebraska); Ernestine SCHULTZ married 1) a ZANDERS, 2) Gottlieb
KRUEGER (married 23 September 1865, in Princeton, Wisconsin).
The family came to America in/around 1851, along with the family
of Martin DOEGE (including August Doege, born 1845, son of
Pauline and Martin) and settled in Marquette County, Wisconsin.
I am looking for more complete information on names, dates of
birth, marriage and death, and links to previous generations.
The family was Lutheran, though the Doeges seem to have been
Methodist, at least in Wisconsin. I would appreciate hearing
from anyone with a connection to this line, or anyone who can
direct me on how to get information from Zachasberg. Thank
you.

I'm trying to find additional information on my ancestor Johann
ZIMPEL, born 1811 in Posen, Prussia. His son, August Wilhelm

Prussia.
Johann Zimpel married Wilhelmine KRUEGER on 27 October 1837 at
Gross Lubs. Wilhelmine Krueger was born 1816 to Martin KRUEGER
and Gottlieba LUCAS. I'd be grateful for any additional
information.

I am trying to identify a village called Freundsthal or
Freudensthal (Kreis Kolmar, province Posen) that my
great-great-grandfather Herman SCHRANK (born 30 June 1855 - died
3 March 1944) and my great-grandfather Gustav WEIDEMANN (Born 31
January 1872 - died 5 May 1959) came from. Both men emigrated to
Wisconsin, in 1873 and 1898 respectively. We have a 1948 letter
from a cousin, whose family stayed in Freundsthal, which states
that the village was returned to Poland after World War II. So,
I'm guessing it is/was located in the northern part of Kolmar,
but I can't find it on any map from the 1800's. Has someone
heard of Freundsthal? Thanks for any information!

I am searching for information for a very dear friend of mine who
asked if I would do this, since he doesn't have the resources to
do so himself. His great-grandfather was Dominik DUBLINSKI, born
in 1855 in Posen. Dominik married Veronika MEZYDTO, born in 1873
at Brooklyn, New York, and died in 1936 at Chicago, Illinois,
where they had settled.
Dominik's son's name was Florian Andrew (also went by Larry,
Huncy). He was born in 1912 at Necedah, Wisconsin, and died in
1974 at Walla Walla, Washington. He married Rosa (Rozalia)
WEJWER, born 1912 at Perronville, Michigan, and died November
1993 at Walla Walla, Washington. Her mother was Katherine
MANKIEWICZ, born 1872 in Poland and died 1923 at Perronville,
Michigan. Her mother was Margret PODIWADOSKA, born in Poland.
Her father was Masteu MONKIWICZ, also born in Poland. Thank you
for any information.

I am seeking information about my father's family. As far as I
know, both his parents were born in Posen. My great-grandfather
Arthur KRONTHAL (25 November 1864 - 1941), was a Stadtrat. I am
not sure about my other great-grandfather, William (Wilhelm)
Julius REMAK (born 15 March 1845 - died 1925). They lived in
Posen until 1918 and from there moved to Berlin until 1938.
Other names I have: Hieman Itzik REMAK (15 March 1804) and Wolf
KRONTHAL. If anyone has any other information, I would
appreciate it.

I am a native German and I'm seeking information about the family
of my father, Hagen SCHUELKE (died 21 December 1941). He was
born at Grocholin, Schubin. The earliest name I have is Lorenz
SCHUELKE (born March 1752 - died 9 September 1799). Lorenz had a
son named Michael SCHUELKE (born January 1790 - died 12 November
1874). His son was Christoph SCHUELKE (born 23 December 1818 -
died 5 September 1889). Christoph had a son named Friedrich
SCHUELKE (born 20 December 1863 - 12 May 1945). My grandfather,
Harry SCHUELKE, was born in 1911 and died in 1998; he was
Friedrich's son. The family lived in the province of Posen.
STREICH, Lynne HAENKE

eMail address: lstreich@earthlink.net
(Lutheran)
My gret-great-grandfather, Henry Otto HAENKE (born 24 March 1866
- died 30 May 1916), emigrated at age 5 from Posen, Germany,
landing at New York aboard the SS Mosel bound from Bremen, on 13
April 1873. He was accompanied by his mother, Wilhelmina KALIS
HAENKE, his younger brother Richard August and his mom's sister,
Julia Ann KALIS HAENKE (his mother and her sister married HAENKE
brothers). The whole family was Lutheran. Henry Otto HAENKE's
father, Julius HAENKE, and uncle, Henry Carl HAENKE, had
emigrated to the U.S. through Quebec, Canada in 1872. I have not
as yet searched the microfilms available through Quebec, Canada,
because the exact month of arrival is required; I do not have
that information yet.
Henry Otto HAENKE'S obituary states he was born in "Gleanno",
Posen, Germany. I suspect this is an anglicized name of the town
/ village because none of the sources I've located list a similar
name. Also, I have reason to believe his mother, Wilhelmina
KALIS HAENKE, may have been born in or near "Grudnow", again
possibly anglicized as well. Can anyone assist me in determining
the German spelling for "Gleanno" and/or "Grudnow"??? This
information is necessary before I can fruitfully search LDS and
German records. My sincere thanks in advance for any assistance
you can offer.
TRAHMS, Bob

Julius TRAHMS was born 19 June 1842 at Neuhorst, Kreis

I am seeking information on the TREBON / TRIBON family, once
located at or near the towns by Schubin and Exin and Ludwikowo.
I am particularly interested in the descendents of Martin TRIBON
and his son Michael. They may possibly have belonged to the
Lutheran parish there. The family emigrated to the U. S. in the
late 1850s where they followed the Catholic faith. I would
appreciate any information you may have.

I am interested in finding information on the Herman SABROWSKY
family. Herman SABROWSKY (SABROSKE), my great-grandfather, was
born 19 September 1858 at Moegorin, Posen, Reich Pulmin. (I
haven't been able to find a town called Moegorin, so it may be
mispelled.) Herman's wife was Louisa KUNKE, born 8 December 1856
at Wutzig, Germany. Their son Otto was born 26 October 1880 in
Wutzig. When Herman and his family emigrated to the U. S., they
originally settled at Elliston, Ohio, later moved to Elyria,
Ohio, and ended up at Oak Harbor, Ohio.

I am looking for information on ancestors of my grandparents, and
the village they came from in Poland. Gustav GENTHER (GUNTHER),
born 28 August 1868, emigrated to New Jersey from Tetarova,
Posen, in 1898. His wife, Louisa BAER, born 11 April 1879,
followed in 1900. Gustav's father, also named Gustav GENTHER
(GUNTHER), was a farmer from Germany who came to Tetarova looking
for land in the 1850s. He married a widow named BUSCHKE. I
can't find Tetarova on a map but it is supposed to be a small
German Lutheran village a 30-minute walk from Sompolno.
