I am Looking for any information about my father's family. My
father was born Heinz BARSNICK at Koenigsberg, East Prussia 22
September 1921. He immigrated to Canada in 1955. His mothers
name was Johanna (nee LANGE) and his father was Herman.
Herman was also born at Koenigsberg. They were Baptists and
there supposedly was a large Baptist church in Koenigsberg .
Does anyone have any information or know how I could find
those church records? Thank you

I am looking for information regarding my Father, Fritz Albert
SCHARFENORT, who was born at Ponarth, Koenigsberg, East Prussia
on 20 November 1898. His fathers name was August SCHARFENORT,
Mother Wilhelmine BOEHM (BOHM), uncle Hermann BOEHM, twin sister
Charlotte and sisters Elsie and Anna Carolina. He also had a
cousin, Gustav SCHARFENORT (1897-1945). He was confirmed as a
Lutheran in 1912 and I have a certificate of Graduation as a
typographer from Fortbildungschule at Koenigsberg (Ponarth) in
1916. He immigrated to the US in 1920. I am curious of the name
of SCHARFENORT and are there any records that were not destroyed
during the war. I am also looking for Hlonc, East Prussia?
Thank you.

My mother grew up as a child at the village of Steintal, East
Prussia. Would anybody in this village remember the name GNIPP
?. My mothers maiden name was Anna GNIPP, born 22 March 1903.
Her fathers name was Johann GNIPP. I think her mothers maiden
name was KOZLOWSKI. Could you send me in the right direction, to
find out about the family? I have family in Germany, but no one
for one reason or another has any information about the family
GNIPP-KOZLOWSKI. Thank you.

I am looking for information on my great grandmother. Her name
was Augusta FOSTER and I know she lived at Koenigsburg, Germany,
born somewhere in the late 1890s. I know she definitely still
has relatives over there, because she had around 13 brothers and
sisters, only one of whom I know for sure immigrated to America
shortly after Augusta did. As far as I know, they were a
Lutheran family. Augusta FOSTER immigrated to America, arriving
at Ellis Island when she was 17, somewhere between 1912-1916.
There she married a husband born in Great Britain who also
immigrated to the USA. His last name was BROWN. They had three
children, George, Chubb, and Doris (my grandmother). Augusta
died in 1935 in her late 30s. Any information you may have on
the town itself or any of these people would be greatly
appreciated! thanks!

Is anyone researching the ISZDONS family? My husband's mother's
parents came from East Prussia, but we at the moment do not know
where they came from. Her parents name was Martin ISZDONS. He
married a Anna MAUER. His parents were Martin ISZDONS, who
married a Anna YACENTO. The children of Martin and Anna MAUER
were Fritz, August, Frieda, Martha, Ella, Herman and my husband's
mother Meta (birth date born 27 June 1903 in Hamburg Germany).
The others so far have been unable to obtain a date of birth. Two
of the children were born in East Prussia the others in Hamburg
Germany, where they had come to live. Have no dates when they
arrived in Germany. Fritz and August were born in East
Prussia.

I am searching for connections to two of my ancestors that
emigrated from Koenigsberg, East Prussia in the spring of 1848.
Friedrich Wilhelm POTKORA, was born in 1817 at Koenigsberg, East
Prussia. In East Prussia, he may have been a preacher or
gardener for the king (according to one family story). At
Albany, New York, he worked as a gardener. He was married to,
and emigrated with, Friedarika SASSE, daughter of Johann and
Katharina SASSE. They had five daughters: Augusta Karolina
Ernestine, Maria Elisabeth, Maria Elisabeth, Martha Louise (my
great grandmother), and Henriette.

I need information on Waldemar SABOROWSKY and his wife, Anna
SCHAEFER. They had a daughter, Herta Clara Elizabet SABOROWSKY,
born 5 May 1900 at Bialla Kreis SchlagerKrueg. She married Hans
Herman WELBAT, born 7 November 1899 and had son, Horst Heinz
WELBAT, born 22 September 1920 at Koenigsberg (my late father)
All are from East Prussia and all were Lutherans. Thank you.

I am trying to find information about my father's family and
have very little information with which to begin. My father,
Herbert Willie ALBRECHT was born 1925 at Kragau, Kreis Samland,
East Prussia to Ernst Walter ALBRECHT and Therese Rosine LUTTER.
They were married at Medenau, Kreis Samland, East Prussia,
i,,igrated to America and moved to Evanston, Cook county,
Illinois, USA in 1928. Ernst died there in 1954. Therese died
at St. Charles, Illinois in 1987. Herbert died at Lake Forest,
Illinois in 1989. Both of their families were supposed to be
Evangelische. They attended Bethlehem Evangelisch Lutheran
Church in Evanston, Illinois when they arrived in the USA.
Ernst Walter ALBRECHT was born 1901 at Craam, Kreis Samland,
East Prussia to August ALBRECHT (b. ? - d. before 1925, E.
Prussia) and Auguste GUS (b. ? - d. after 1928, East Prussia).
Ernst had several siblings. I don't know for sure if these are
the correct names; Marie, Grete, Lina, Bertha, Franz, and Otto.
Therese Rosine LUTTER was born 1906 in Wischehnen, Kreis
Samland, E. Prussia to Fritz Friedrich LUTTER (b. 1875, E.
Prussia - d. 1941, presumably in Russia) and Rosine Ernestine
GLAUS (born 1875, East Prussia - died 1931, Kragau, Kreis
Samland, East Prussia). Therese had 3 known siblings, Martha
Ernestine (married Edward HAUFF), Gertrud Elisabet (married Franz
Gustav PAULIEN) and Fritz or Fritz Friedrich (first spouse
unknown, second spouse Bertha ?). There may have been another
Therese born before 1906 who died as an infant or young
child.

I am looking for ANY information pertaining to the birth mother
and father of my father, Erich Maximilian SELZER. My
grandmother, Marta KILOTAT, was born at Tilsit, East Prussia
(now Sovetsk) sometime between 1900 and 1908. She was raised a
Lutheran, Protestant. At some point prior to 1925, she gave
birth to an illegimate child (my father, Erich). The name of the
birth father was never divulged. At some point after 1925, Marta
KILOTAT moved to Berlin, where she met and married a Jewish
engineer from Poland, Leon SELZER. Leon adopted my father. The
family then immigrated in 1938 to Bogota, Columbia and later,
in the mid-1950s to Astoria, New York and New York City. Marta
KILOTAT (who died in 1973) had several sisters, one of whom
Elena KILOTAT, was living until the late 1970s at Hamburg,
Germany. If anyone out there has info. about the KILOTAT family
from Tilsit, please contact me. Many thanks

I have been searching for the birth place in Prussia of my
grandfather, Otto Frederick RICHTER (born 1864, died 1908 at
Memphis, Tennessee, USA). On his death certificate, the name of
his father is given as "Gus." I know no other given names of his
family, although he did have at least a brother who was a Hussar,
and two sisters (from photographs). Otto named his only son
"Adolph." My cousin tells me that our grandfather came from a
small village in East Prussia called "Rauchew" and that the
family was considered "Junker."
The IGI file lists a birth date for Gustav Adolph RICHTER, born
1836 in Gudwallen, East Prussia. When I go to
http://www.kartenmeister.com">http://www.kartenmeister.com
I find that there is a town Rochau only a few miles from
Gudwallen. From the latitude / longitude coordinates, both of
these towns are east of Kaliningrad (Koenigsberg) in that small
area of the Baltic shore that now is part of Russia - between
Poland and Lithuania. I would like to check church records of
these two presumably small towns. In the LDS Research Guide for
Germany I see that small towns are often included in the parish
of a nearby larger town. How can I find the parish(s) to which
Gudwallen and Rochau belong? Since this small area is now part
of Russia, will "Germans from Russia " be the appropriate site to
search? Can you give me any references to learn about the
history of this area? I will appreciate your advice.
Thanks.

I am researching FISCHER, Hermann, bc1833 at Koenigsberg,
believed son of FISCHER, Adolph and Caroline. Hermann arrived in
Australia, most probably South Australia circa 1852 / 1853 before
settling Adelong, N.S.W. and then Sydney. It is believed that he
was possibly a crew member on the ship and deserted in Australia.
His father was believed to be a German Army Officer of some rank
and there is a photo in uniform. Nothing found in archives for
Koenigsberg old town church records, only one entry "Adolph
Fischer, Koneigsberg". Nothing in I.G.I. I wrote to Secret
State archives with no record in miliary books or Evangelical
church records. I was told Prussian records were destroyed by
bombing of Potsdam. The Berlin archives check yielded no record.
So far no trace can be found. I would appreciate any information
or advice as to where to approach next.

I am searching for the birth place of my grandfather, August
PLIKUHN, born 10 June 1859 possibly in East Prussia. In 1887
he was medically released from the German army at Konigsberg,
East Prussia. In October 1891 a document from Pillkall shows
he applied to have his visa extended from the original March,
1886 date so he could continue to work in Russia as a zeigler.
Listed in the application with him are his wife Anna (REINHARDT),
30 and his sister Marie, 30. All were from Borszeningken. On 5
August 1892 August, Anna and their five children Anna, Minna,
Emma, Oscar, and Emil (Aduart) immigrated from Hamburg aboard the
ship "Columbia" to Chicago via New York. The ship records them as
being from Borszeningken. I would like to learn the location of
Borszeningken and the names of any Lutheran churches in the
area. Also, could Pillkall be Pillkallen? Any information
would be greatly appreciated.

I am interested in the genealogy of people who came from
Koenigsberg, East Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia). The name is
Klaus Kunibert HILL (seems like it must be a change from some
other name). He was born in 1934 and lived at Koenigsberg until
1945, when they moved to West Germany near Hannover. Any help in
researching this family would be appreciated. I think I want to
know about how to know if these people were ethnic German,
Russian or Pole or whatever. What records, if any, are
available, etc. Thanks in advance.

I'm seeking information regarding the SCHIEMANN family. Robert
SCHIEMANN, born about 1845 at Ortelburg, married Caroline
KLEEBURG 1869 at Johanasburg. She was born at Johanasburg about
1849. They had 4 children: Anna SCHIEMANN, born 1970; Bertha
SCHIEMANN, born 1872, Emil Robert SCHIEMANN, born 8 January 1874.
He married Berta FUSS 12 Jan 1896, Augusta SCHIEMANN was born
1876. She married Emil KYECK. I would like to learn the names of
the parents of Robert SCHIEMANN and Caroline KLEEBURG. Emil
SCHIEMANN was my husbands' grandfather. He, with his family,
immigrated to the United States about 1913 and settled in
Pennsylvania. Any information will be helpful. Thank you.

I am trying to find information on my 11th great-grandfather,
Balthesser / Balthasser / Balthaser BECKER. He was born 20 March
1604 and died 20 June 1698. He was given the family name and the
coat of Arms in 1632 by the Prussian Ruler whose court he
represented at Royal Court Amsterdam, Holland. I understand what
the coat of Arms stand for but I am not clear what it means to be
given a family name. Would anyone have information on Balthaser
Becker and the above meaning?

I am looking for any information on a Hachem SCHMIDT and
Family (farther, mother, etc.). All I have is his birth date, 12
January 1811, and that he was born at Konigsberg East Prussia. I
was told that he was a Whaler, whether he was the captain or the
guy who scrubbed the decks its a blank, but he ended up settling
in New Zealand. Any help would greatly be appreciated as this
part of our heritage has been a blank for a long time. Thank
you.
