Jim W. Faulkinbury is a Certified Genealogical Record
Specialist residing in Sacramento, California. He has been a
professional genealogist since 1979. He has been certified as a
C.G.R.S. since 1980.
He is a specialist in California research. He uses the extensive
resources of the California State Library and California State
Archives in Sacramento. He is a member of FEEFHS (Federation of
East European Family History Societies), NGS (National
Genealogical Society), APG (Association of Professional
Genealogists) and the SGGS (Sacramento German Genealogy
Society).
His published works include:
- Foreign-Born Voters
of California in 1872, a compilation of his
extractions of foreign-born voter records from the Great Register
of California (self-published).
- The chapter on California for Ann S. Lainhart's "State
Census Records" (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing
Company, 1992),
- an extraction and translation of genealogical data from
Die Deutschen von Iowa und deren Errungenschaften by
Joseph Eiboeck (Des Moines, Iowa: des Iowa Staats-Anzeiger, 1900)
and
- The San Francisco
Call Vital Records Database - extractions of births,
marriages and deaths from the newspaper during 1869 thru June
1905 (an on-going project). The original records were destroyed
by the great 1906 earthquake and fire. When completed, the
resulting 250,000+ extractions will become a new alternate source
for genealogists for that thirty six year period.
He has lectured at several past Conventions served as a Mentor
on:
- California Resources of Importance to Central and East
European Record Searchers.
- U.S. Naturalization Records From the Colonial Period to
today: Types, Content and Locating Available Records.
