FAMILY HISTORY
THE "COMPLETE" GENEALOGY
(Note: This excerpt does not reflect how the book's 175 pages appear in print.)
A "complete" genealogy may seem as elusive as a complete education, but between doing nothing and trying to do everything there is a happy middle ground. In the case of a complete genealogy, there are two parts.
- Individual statistics of names, dates and places which make up the Pedigree Charts and the Family Group Records. These facts and figures most clearly identify individuals and thier proper place in ancestral lineage.
- Autobiographies and family histories which bring the statistacal "dry bones" to life with action, drama, and feeling. These accounts and descriptions of the times and places the ancestors lived in produce a complete and meaningful family history.
The purpose of this chapter is to show the importance of having a personal and family histories, and to introduce you to writing your own history as part of your family genealogy. In so doing, no one needs to dwell on the negative but rather on simple and true events as they happened.
